Champs Technologies has introduced the G45 series of standard planar transformers specifically developed, tested and adapted for use in Linear Technology‘s Reference Design Series DC1317A. That series is designed for high efficiency and power throughput employing a forward converter active clamp topology on the input side and secondary side SR control on the secondary side. The predominant application space is generally understood as telecom which covers an input voltage range of 9-36, 18-72 and 36-72 Vdc. Power levels range typically from 50-200W.

Characteristics specifically geared for this power topology include aggressive interleave and uniform multilayer pcb layer stacking. The end result i low leakage inductance and superior proximity and skin effect characteristics. Furthermore, the multilayer pcb structure allows for superior thermal performance. This enables higher throughput power at higher efficiencies than is the industry norm.
