Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has expanded its offering of monolithic ceramic capacitors with interposer substrates with the addition of new 0603 (1.6 x 0.8 mm)-size products with X5R characteristics and rated at 4.7µF and 35V. The latest electronic devices tend to generate less noise, so “squealing” caused by MLCC vibration has emerged as an issue in designing power supply circuits for applications such as laptop PCs, mobile phones, and digital cameras. In 2012, Murata developed and introduced the ZRB series of MLCC with interposer substrate as a solution for squealing issues. It suppresses MLCC vibration via the interposer substrate, substantially reducing the effects of vibration on the main circuit board.

Features of the new additions include: The new additions to the 0603 (1.6 x 0.8 mm)-size lineup are rated at 4.7µF and 35V. This brings advanced squealing countermeasures to circuits requiring a high level of reliability. The MLCC is mounted on an interposer substrate, contributing to a reduction in the squealing level. The new product has the same L and W dimensions as the previous MLCC, eliminating the need to alter the land design on the circuit board when replacing with the new product.
