Automotive-Grade 14A Gate Driver Integrated Circuits

IXYS Integrated Circuits Division (ICD), Inc. announced that the IXD_614SI family has been added to the growing number of IXYS ICD low side gate driver integrated circuits that are AEC Q100 (automotive-grade) qualified. With both outputs and inputs rated to 35V, the IXD_614SI family is well-suited for automotive applications. IXD_614SI outputs are capable of sourcing and sinking 14A of peak current with rise and fall times of less than 25ns.

Recommended: Digital Isolators Provide up to 2W of Isolated Power

The IXD_614SI family has an AEC Q100 Grade 1 -40 to +125 degrees C ambient operating temperature range. These gate drivers are extremely robust, capable of withstanding negative voltage spikes of greater than 5V on the inputs, and are virtually immune to latch-up. The IXD_614SI devices are available in the thermally-enhanced 8-lead power SOIC package. The IXDD614SI is configured as an inverting driver with an enable, the IXDI614SI is configured as an inverting driver, and the IXDN614SI is configured as a non-inverting driver.

The IXD_614SI drivers’ 14A/35V power output makes them well-suited for driving high-current IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs. Typical automotive applications include switched-mode power supplies used in electric and hybrid electric vehicles, motor drives and traction inverters. IXYS ICD also offers lower current AEC Q100 qualified low side gate drivers. The IXD_609SI is a single 9A gate driver, and the IXD_604SI is a dual 4A gate driver.
