Chinese carpenter Liu Fulong spent four months this year building a fully operational, all-electric car out of wood! The car is armored, it features several missiles mounted to the sides and roof, and it’s road-worthy, too. The 48-year-old carpenter shelled out 20,000 yuan (around $3,200 USD) to build his wooden creation.
Fulong lives in Shengyang, in northeast China’s Liaoning province, and he has no formal training in automotive production. The car measures eight feet long by four feet wide, weighs over 770lbs, and can reach a traveling speed up to 30 miles per hour. It may not be the fastest or most attractive electric vehicle on the planet, but that doesn’t detract from the wow factor.
This is no rickety go kart, by any means. Fulong’s wooden car has not only the bells and whistles, but also the mirrors, lights, and even radar and missiles. The crafty designer of this unique vehicle thought of everything. He’s even included multiple spare tires and a number plate painted in red on the front bumper.
Without doubt, this armored electric car is quite an amazing project. (It beats the nails off that birdhouse you made in high school shop class.) Yet, this is not the first car that Fulong has built from scratch. Earlier this year, he built another wooden electric car, which took three months to create and drives up to 20 miles per hour. Not too shabby.
