Masdar Officially Launches Enhanced “The Future Build” — Green Building Materials Website

The enhanced new incarnation of The Future Build — a green building materials website used by developers, contractors, architects, etc — was officially relaunched recently by its developer, Masdar.

The new website allows suppliers to market their products as “The Future Build certified” products — thereby gaining a seal of approval from what is currently one of the largest databases of independently assessed green building products and materials in the world.

The original website was actually launched all the way back in 2011, and was at the time a first-of-its-kind offering in the region — even serving as the primary “source and online directory for green building materials used by the developers and contractors behind world-renowned Masdar City.”

The Director of Sustainability at Masdar, Dr Nawal Al Hosany, has described the service thusly: “For architects, contractors and building suppliers working in the sustainable construction sector, the Future Build solves a very practical problem. It provides anywhere, anytime, online access to the most comprehensive and credible database of local suppliers of green building products and services.”

“The Future Build is yet another initiative by the UAE to encourage sustainability across the region. It bridges the gap between the supply chain and developers, promoting the use of eco-friendly materials. In this way we can help to accelerate the deployment of more sustainable urban development.”

On that note — the Environmental and Sustainability Manager at Brookfield Multiplex, Steve Smith, commented on the efficacy of the service very positively: “The vast amount of technical information provided on The Future Build Website has assisted Brookfield Multiplex with rapidly identifying materials that adhere to a project’s sustainability requirements. This easy-to-use database promotes the procurement of materials manufactured sustainably and will only further enhance sustainable construction practices in the Middle East region.”
