Socomec and JSR Micro N.V. announce the launch of a lithium-ion capacitor based UPS as a result of a joint collaboration effort. The system is using Socomec’s state of the art UPS equipment in combination with ULTIMO® lithium-ion capacitors, supplied by JM Energy Corporation. The UPS system, supplied by Socomec, has been designed to provide short-term back-up power to critical support equipment. By protecting installations from power drops in the seconds to minutes range, damages caused by such short term interruptions will be avoided, manufacturing downtime will be reduced and the cost of productivity loss due to process interruptions will be lowered significantly.

This innovative solution overcomes the limitations of the traditional storage systems for UPS particularly for those applications working in critical environments where hazardous substances are not allowed, applications with severe ambient conditions and where long recharging time is a constraint. The use of a cell-to-cell monitoring makes this a fully integrated system that enhances the power availability for the load. A first system is already demonstrating flawless operation at the JSR Micro NV facility, protecting its critical equipment.
