The 2015 BMW i8 has finally arrived in America after years of will-they-won’t-they, and while most of us (your humble writer included) will never be able to afford the hybrid supercar, we can still play around with the BMW i8 online customizer, which went live only yesterday.
Like the BMW i3 configurator, the i8 has “World” feature levels instead traditional trims, four of them to be exact with the Mega World serving as the base model. The next level, Giga World, adds LED headlights and taillights, as well as 20-inch turbine wheels with either a white or black interior, at the cost of $2,000 on top of the base $136,650 MSRP. Tera World will set you back $3,000 over MSRP and includes the Mega upgrades, as well as an exclusive dalbergia brown interior and a “BMW i blue” seatbelt .
Want to go all in on a 2015 BMW i8? Then the Pure Impulse World is for you, costing an extra $10,000 over MSRP for a carum spice grey perforated leather interior and an anthracite headliner. You also get the Mega and Tera World upgrades, as well as knowledge that you’re among the elite few privileged enough to own this futuristic Bimmer.
Of course the privilege could cost you 50% over the sticker price, but if you’re in the position to even consider buying a BMW i8, what’s another $70,000 between you and pure driving bliss?
