3W to 10W DIP-24 DC-DCs have Medical Certification

TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the TDK-Lambda PXC-M series of dc-dc converters. Operating over a 4:1 input range, the 3W, 6W and 10W products are enclosed in the industry standard 1.25 x 0.8 x 0.4 inch DIP-24 package. Applications include a wide variety of medical applications and battery powered equipment.

With a 5,000Vac input to output isolation (2 x MOPPs), the units are certified to IEC/EN 60601-1 and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives. Patient leakage current is less than 2.5µA. The units are compliant to EN55011-A and EN55022-A without the need for external filtering, and IEC61000-4 immunity standards.

The PXC-M series is available with single and dual outputs covering 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V or 24V and +/-5V, +/-12V or +/-15V outputs and can operate from either a 9- to 36-Vdc or 18- to 75-Vdc input. The wide range assists inventory reduction programs as the converters can operate from either 12V and 24V or 24V and 48V nominal inputs without the need to stock additional parts.

With operating efficiencies of up to 89%, the PXC-M can operate in ambient temperatures from -40 to +105 degrees C, with appropriate derating above 94 degrees C for the 3W, 88 degrees C for the 6W and 77 degrees C for the 10W models. Zero-load power draw is less than 0.2W, making the series suitable for battery powered applications. Options include an output adjustment trim function for non-standard voltages and remote on/off.
