Mean Well Enterprises Co. Ltd. has unveiled the SPB05 series of 5W regulated single output dc-dc converters to meet the increasing demand for system miniaturization. This series is in SIP (single-in-line) package form and adopts the plastic case of the 3W SPB03 (0.86″x0.36″x0.44″) but increases the available power to 5W. The power density is up to 36.7 W/in³; and the volume is just about one-third of the existing 5W rated output product, the SCW05 (1.25″x0.8″x0.48″), providing a better power solution for systems with space limitations.

This series is equipped with industrial standard pin, 2:1 wide input range (9- to 18-Vdc, 18- to 36-Vdc, or 36- to 72-Vdc), 1500-Vdc I/O isolation, short circuit and overload protections, low ripple noise, and remote ON/OFF control. These dc-dc converters have a working temperature range from -40 through +80 degrees C; they deliver full output power up to 60 degrees C and derate linearly to 50% power at 80 degrees C. These 100-kHz switching converters include an internal EMI filter and are approved for CE/FCC.
