Gate Driver Targets SiC Devices and IGBTs

During last week’s Electronica trade fair in Munich, Germany, Mornsun Guangzhou Science & Technology Co., Ltd. was demonstrating the QA01C dc-dc module power supply designed for use as a gate driver for IGBTs and SiC devices requiring two isolated power sources. The mode of mutual connection after two independent outputs is adopted internally for better energy provision of device turn-on and turn-off. Output short circuit protection and self-recovery capabilities are also provided. General applications are expected to include switching power converters, ac servo drives, welding equipment, industrial power conversion and uninterruptible power supplies.

Recommended: High Density Synchronous Boost Converter Delivers Up to 10W

The QA01C operates with a nominal 15Vdc input (13.5 to 16.5 Vdc) and produces outputs of +20Vdc and -4Vdc, both with 100mA of output current. The input current ranges from 200mA at full load to 20mA at no load. The device has a typical efficiency of 80% at full load.

These dc-dc converters measure 19.50mm X 9.80mm X 12.50mm. They are packaged with Black flame-retardant and heat-resistant plastic (UL94-V0) and weigh 4.3 grams. Under free-air convection cooling the QA01C series is specified to operate from -40 to +105 degrees C. They deliver full output power to 85 degrees C and derate linearly to 80% power at 105 degrees C.
