New coating could have big implications for lithium batteries Coating provides extra layer of protection for battery cathodes

Building a better lithium-ion battery involves addressing a myriad of factors simultaneously, from keeping the battery’s cathode electrically and ionically conductive to making sure that the battery stays safe after many cycles. In a new discovery, scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory have developed a new cathode coating by using an oxidative chemical vapor deposition

Tesla battery researcher is ‘excited’ about new battery tech developed by the Army

A new Li-ion battery technology developed by the US Army has piqued the interest of Jeff Dahn, Tesla’s main battery research partner. In the latest issue of the journal Nature, the CCDC Army Research Laboratory (ARL), which is an element of the U.S. Army, released a study demonstrating a new battery technology based on a new cathode chemistry. They claim

Germany opens its first ‘electric highway’ for hybrid trucks

Germany has opened its first-ever “electric highway”, which allows hybrid cargo trucks to charge their batteries while they are on the move, on its A5 motorway, Bloomberg reported Monday. According to Bloomberg, the highway connects hybrid trucks to overhead wires, allowing them to recharge while traveling on the country’s main transportation arteries. The 10-kilometer (6-mile) stretch, which was opened last

How to calculate charge/discharge Internal Resistance

On BTSDA, the formula to calculate charge/discharge DCIR is R= |(V1-V2)| / |(I1-I2)|  Charge DCIR: Using first second record V1 and I1 at current charge step, minus the last second record V2 and I2 at previous charge step. Take the absolute value for (V1-V2) and (I1-I2), we can get DCIR via absolute current value divide by absolute voltage value. Discharge DCIR:Using

Channel in parallel, parallel channels for higher current

Attention: Chanels parallel function can only be made on Neware 5V and 20A or higher testers, such as 5V20A/30A/50A/100A/500A. For all the other testers not 5V or lower than 20A, please don’t use parallel function on them, it might burn the tester. To increase the current for the test purpose, we can put up to maximum 4 channels in parallel.
